From 2013 to 2019, he served as Director-General at the European Commission, Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development, and from 2006 to 2013, he was Deputy Director-General. Previously, as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, he was responsible for negotiations on Poland’s accession to the EU in the field of agriculture, adaptation to the Common Agricultural Policy, as well as multilateral and bilateral trade negotiations (1997-2004).A long-time academic, he worked as an assistant professor at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) from 1982 to 1997. He also served as an FAO and World Bank expert, as well as an advisor to the President of the National Bank of Poland (2004-2006). Currently, as a Team Europe expert, he focuses on the Common Agricultural Policy, sustainable agricultural development, the New European Green Deal, bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations, as well as science, research, and innovation in agriculture.
